It is known since 1784 as a small town Maslostovka of the Cherikov district, Mogilev province, the center of the Krasnopolie small administrative district. Starting from the 27th of September 1938 it is a urban village, the regional centre of the Mogilev province.
Nowadays 6,5 thousand people reside in the town village Krasnopolie. A breakdown of the Chernobyl atomic power station has influenced greatly on the social and economic development of the Region in the 80th. In the Region 83 populated centers were liquidated and it resulted in the population reduction by 9 thousand people.
The regional industry is represented by 2 enterprises, occupied with the bread and bakery and confectionery goods production and the other food products as well as business timber and saw mill materials manufacturing. The Region is proud of many famous talented people. Seven natives of Krasnopolie were awarded with the Soviet Union hero title and three with the Socialist Labor hero title.
