The urban settlement of Oktyabrsky was founded 31.08.1954 in consequence of integration of the villages of Karpilovka, Rudobelka and Rudnya.

The village of Rudobelka was known since the middle of the XV century when the Great Duke of Lithuania presented it to landlord I. Goytsovich.

During the Civil War and military intervention in 1918—1920 Soviet power was being preserved in Rudobelka and in the neighbor parts of Bobruysk district. The village of Rudobelka was the center of "Rudobelka Republic". In October 1941 partisans restored Soviet power in Rudobelka. A district executive committee, a school, a power plant, a sewing workshop and a workshop producing weapon were functioning there. The urban settlement of Oktyabrsky is an administrative, economical and cultural center of Oktyabrski district. The settlement has a sufficient material and technical basis and a developed network of public service establishments.
